Terms of Use
Last updated 20 August 2026
1. Who we are, and what these terms cover
Uncanny World (the "Service") is sold and operated by UNCANNY LABS LLC, a company established in United States ("we", "us") — the seller and merchant of record for your membership.
Registered address: 1209 North Orange Street, 19801 Wilmington, DE, United States.
You can reach us at arthursimonian1@gmail.com.
The Service runs on My Foodie, a platform operated by Uncanny Labs. The platform provides the technology and is involved only in the settlement of payments; UNCANNY LABS LLC is the supplier of the Service for all other purposes, including content, consumer rights and taxes.
These terms form the contract between you and us for the Service. You accept them when you subscribe at checkout or use the Service. Please also read the Privacy Policy at /privacy, which explains how your personal data is handled.
2. The Service
Uncanny World is a members-only, personally curated restaurant map: the creator's own picks, reviews, ratings, must-order dishes, photos, filters, and directions. It is an editorial recommendation service — not a booking platform, a food-safety authority, or dietary or health advice.
The map is curated and alive: restaurants and features are added, updated, and removed over time. If the Service ever changes in a way that materially reduces what you paid for, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of your current period.
3. Your account
You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to purchase a membership.
Sign-in is passwordless: your email address is your key to the Service. Keep your email account secure and up to date — anyone with access to your inbox can access your membership.
Your membership is personal. One account per person; please don't share access.
4. Membership, billing, and cancellation
Price. The price of your membership is the price shown at checkout when you subscribe, for the plan (monthly or yearly) you choose. It includes VAT where applicable.
Automatic renewal. Your membership renews automatically at the end of each billing period and your payment method is charged, until you cancel.
How to cancel. Email us at arthursimonian1@gmail.com and we will cancel for you — or, while your membership is active, open the map, tap the person icon to open your account, and choose "Manage billing" to cancel yourself in our payment provider's (Stripe's) secure portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you've paid for; you keep access until then.
Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never store your card details.
Failed payments. If a renewal charge fails, you keep access for a grace period while Stripe retries your card and we prompt you to update it. If payment ultimately can't be collected, your membership ends.
Price changes. If the price changes, you will be emailed at least 30 days before the new price applies. It takes effect from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then if you don't agree.
5. Your 14-day right of withdrawal
As a consumer in the EU, you have the right to withdraw from your subscription within 14 days of your first purchase, without giving a reason (Directive 2011/83/EU).
The Service starts immediately after checkout, at your request. The law would let us keep a proportional amount for the days you had access — we don't. You can withdraw from this contract within 14 days of your first payment, for any reason and without justifying it. You get a full refund: we return everything you paid and deduct nothing for the time you had access. We refund within 14 days of receiving your request, to the payment method you used.
To withdraw, sign in and use the "Withdraw from contract" control at the bottom of this page — it is available throughout the withdrawal window and takes two clicks — or email arthursimonian1@gmail.com from your account email with a clear statement that you withdraw. We confirm receipt by email and refund you within 14 days using your original payment method.
The withdrawal right applies once, to your initial purchase — not again at each renewal. After the 14 days, the cancellation rules in section 4 apply.
6. Model withdrawal form
You may (but do not have to) use this model withdrawal form:
— To UNCANNY LABS LLC, 1209 North Orange Street, 19801 Wilmington, DE, United States, arthursimonian1@gmail.com:
— I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the Uncanny World membership,
— Ordered on [date],
— Name of consumer, address of consumer,
— Signature of consumer (only if this form is notified on paper),
— Date.
7. Refunds
Beyond the withdrawal right, subscriptions are generally not refunded for the remainder of a period after you cancel. This does not affect your statutory remedies: if the Service doesn't work as it should, you have the rights described in section 11 — and if you believe something went wrong with a charge, contact us at arthursimonian1@gmail.com before disputing it with your bank; genuine mistakes are fixed quickly.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to: copy, scrape, bulk-export, or republish the curated map, reviews, or restaurant database; resell, share, or commercially exploit your membership access; interfere with the Service's operation or attempt to bypass the membership paywall; or use any part of the Service for unlawful purposes or to harm others.
9. Content and intellectual property
Our content. The curation, reviews, ratings, editorial text, branding, and design belong to the seller (or its licensors). Your membership gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them within the Service — nothing more.
Your content. Anything you submit stays yours. You give us a non-exclusive licence to host, process, and display it solely to operate the Service for you. You confirm you have the right to submit what you submit.
Third-party content. Some restaurant details and photos are sourced from Google; no ownership of them is claimed.
10. Restaurant information — check before you go
Restaurant details (opening hours, prices, menus, addresses — even whether a place is still open) come from third-party sources and the creator's own visits. They can be wrong or go out of date. Please verify the essentials before travelling somewhere.
The restaurants on the map are independent businesses. They are recommended because the creator likes them — the Service is not affiliated with them, does not control them, and is not responsible for your experience, your meal, or their compliance with food-safety or other rules. Directions open in Google Maps, subject to Google's own terms.
11. Your statutory rights, and the limits of our liability
The Service is provided with reasonable care and skill. As a consumer, you have statutory conformity rights for digital services under EU law (Directive (EU) 2019/770, as implemented in United States) — if the Service doesn't conform, you can require it to be brought into conformity, a price reduction, or termination of the contract. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes those rights, or any other rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
Subject to that: we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses caused by ordinary negligence, and our total liability for direct damages is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. This cap and exclusion do not apply to death or personal injury, intent, gross negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited under applicable law.
12. Termination
Your account may be suspended or terminated if you materially breach these terms (for example, scraping the database or sharing access), normally after notice and a chance to fix it — immediately in cases of fraud or serious abuse. If your membership is terminated without you being in breach, the unused part of your current period is refunded.
When your account ends, your access ends. You can ask for a copy of the content you submitted — see the Privacy Policy for your data rights.
13. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. For material changes you will be notified by email or in the app at least 30 days before they take effect, and you can cancel before then if you don't agree. Minor edits (like clarifications or legal-compliance updates) take effect when posted, with the date at the top updated. The exact terms you accepted are recorded against your purchase and emailed to you when you subscribe.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the law of United States. This choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live, which continue to protect you. Disputes may be brought in the courts of your place of residence or in the courts of United States, at your choice.
15. Disputes and alternative resolution
If you have a complaint, email arthursimonian1@gmail.com first — most things get resolved quickly and directly.
Consumer disputes may also be submitted to the alternative-dispute-resolution bodies of United States; your local consumer-protection authority can point you to the competent entity.
16. Taxes
The price you pay includes VAT where applicable, and the seller is responsible for its own tax obligations. If it is confirmed that EU VAT rules (Article 9a of Implementing Regulation (EU) No 282/2011) treat the platform as the deemed supplier of memberships sold through it, the platform may instead collect and remit the relevant transaction taxes centrally. The price shown at checkout is what you pay either way.
17. General
If any part of these terms turns out to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest still applies. If a right is not enforced, it is not waived. This contract may be transferred as part of a sale or reorganisation of the seller's business, provided your rights are not reduced. These terms (together with the mandatory pre-contractual information provided at checkout) are the whole agreement between us for the Service.
